Microbial Corrosion

Microbial corrosion (MIC) includes all types of corrosion that are initiated or enhanced by microorganisms. This causes major economic damage, including to hydraulic engineering installations such as locks or weirs.

In collaboration with the lab of Prof. Dr. Nicolas Vogel from the Institute of Particle Technology at FAU  FAU we are working on the prevention of MIC – among other things by using novel, bio-inspired coatings.
