On the traditional “Berg Tuesday” 2021 there was no joint meeting of FAU employees on the “Berg”, but instead there were adequate online knowledge tracks. Just as befitting a bioprocess engineer, Prof. Kathrin Castiglione from the Institute of Bioprocess Engineering introduced us to the secrets of the beer brewing art. Against the background of her experience with the institute’s own brewery, she explained the brewing process from experimental to hectolitre scale. With her lecture, she was able to complete the scientific Erlangen Bergkirchweih series dealing with hops and malt, history and ice appropriately and properly.
